Home - Statement of Faith - Rally Schedule - Directions

Our purpose is...to spread the message of Jesus Christ through the preaching and the teaching of the Bible at regular services and during our Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter Retreats.

The camp is available to other Christian groups to use with approval from the board and we encourage everyone to consider using these wonderful facilities for meetings, retreats, etc.  Our scheduled camp retreats provide adult and youth morning bible studies, love feasts, times of fellowship, afternoon youth activities for ages 13 and up, regular evening services, and a nightly youth campfire with singing. The camp was founded by Earl & Ethel Waterman in the mid-70's as a non-profit camp that is run completely on faith.  Support comes from the friends and family of the conference.  For more information contact:  Jeff Gilman, President  (207) 438-9024 jeff_gilman@yahoo.com

UPDATE ON BUILDING PROJECTS

The gray lodge building is coming along.  We have the wood trim on all the doors and windows.  The ladies have put up curtains in all the windows, and more painting has been done.  If anyone would be interested in coming up to camp to work on this building we would love to hear from you!  We would love to coordinate a work day with several people.

Our caretaker's have been doing general maintenance, and they have been making some additional improvements.  There are plenty of projects and work that always needs to be done.  Both small and large projects.  If you can donate your time or send us a contribution to the building fund it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your support!

                    NOTES &  NEWS

evesvcjg.jpg (60597 bytes)Harbinger Bible Conference Report
September 30, 2008

There have been so many blessings this past year.  The spirit of the Lord was present and we just cannot express the powerful ways that God has moved in our midst during our rallies this year.  One of our most memorable nights was when we experienced a strong summer rainstorm and lost all power during a service.  We continued that service by the light of flashlights, and the Holy Spirit broke down walls that people had put up for several years.
We were very blessed with our attendance at the rallies this year, especially our spring rally with Michael Saunders and Steve Bleiler from The Holy Land Experience in Orlando, Fl.  Steve’s portrayal of Christ was awe inspiring and truly blessed of the Lord.  Our speaker during the Summer Rally was Rev Bryce Whiting and Rev. Bruce Burks spoke during the Fall Rally.  Pauline Phelps is such a dedicated Bible teacher and opens the Word of God for us each morning.  Kristin McDaniels worked with our preschoolers and Don McDaniels assisted with the youth, and were both a great blessing.
Our founder, Rev. Earl Waterman, at 96, is now confined to The Vernon Home in Vernon, Vt., but continues to be an inspiration to all who attend and see the fulfillment of his vision to establish this place in the Mountains of New Hampshire where all can come aside for a little while and meet with the Lord.

 Additional blessings:

  • Our rooms are nearly completed and we are busy finishing the trim, paint/wallpaper and flooring.  We also have installed a handicap bath in our lower lodge.
  • Our dining room now has a handicap ramp to enable those with disabilities to come and go easily.  We have had a handicap ramp to the Tabernacle for a few years.
  • We were able to purchase a new refrigerator and several other items for the kitchen this year, which are greatly appreciated by all our kitchen volunteers.
  • Mark Gensamer has refurbished the old camp bell and mounted it in a beautiful mortice and tenon 4x4 natural beam frame with a small pitched roof.  It sits on the ground at waist level outside the tabernacle and rings out once again.
  • The youth firehouse has been completely gutted out, repainted, windows enlarged with new screens and new benches put in, etc.  It’s fantastic.
  • Many thanks go to our caretakers, Mark and Korina, as well as Paul Blake and many other volunteers throughout the year for all the excellent work they have done on the grounds and buildings
  • The heavy rains this summer washed deep gullies into the roads, but they have been repaired with the assistance of Reg Willey and we are most grateful.
  • We have assisted several different groups this year holding their retreats at Harbinger, and will host two additional groups in October.
  • It was our great pleasure to host the Maranatha Conference this year.
  • As always, we continue to assist folks in need of a place to stay for short periods of time.

With completion of our recent building projects, our guest capacity is 45 to 50 people.   With the various campsite areas we have been able to host nearly 75 people on the grounds, and we are getting requests to increase our camping capacity.  There is also a possibility that we will be able to add 7-9 more campsites in the coming year while we continue to complete the building project.  There has been more interest in the past couple of years to hold winter retreats at the Conference, and interest is growing.  Our work to insulate all of our buildings, and make them available for winter use has been nearly completed.
Many blessings have occurred at Harbinger this year, and we sense that we are on the edge of great things in the future.  God has truly met our needs, supplied more than we needed, and continues to encourage us to continue expanding.  In this age of so many camps being closed due to financial and other problems, we find that we are being strengthened to continue building this ministry.  We look forward to what God has in store for Harbinger in the coming year(s).  Our desire is to encourage other Christian organizations to use the Conference for their meetings and retreats.

Our 2009 Rally dates are:  May 14 – 17, July 23 – 26, and September 24 – 27

May 18, 2008
Our Spring Rally was full of blessings as we listened to Pauline's and Michael's teaching, and Steve Bleiler's dramatizations of Jesus.  Friday night's service stood out from the other services as we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit fill the entire sanctuary.  As the altar call ended a sense of peace and a moving of God filled each person.  Folks sat quietly in their seats soaking in the presence of God not wanting this moment to end.  Prayers of thanksgiving were offering, and we sang, "Surely, the presence of the Lord is in this place.  I can feel His mighty power and His grace.  I can feel the brush of angel's wings.  I see glory on each face.  Surely, the presence of the Lord is in this place."  And it was.

This was also the rally at which we hold our Annual Meeting and election of officers.  Paul Blake will continue as Vice-President, Jason Blake was elected to finish Jack Matthews term since Jack was resigning, and Don Ducharme was elected as a new Member-At-Large.  We welcome these folks on the Board to help us with this ministry, and we are grateful for them.  Our expenses were more than met, and we praise God for this especially because we have several maintenance needs as well as various improvements that are in progress.

We had a beautiful Harbinger Choir again, several music specials, new songs, great food, fantastic sunny weather, wonderful fellowship, amazing drama's, and most of all a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  We are so blessed by the hard work of our Board, caretakers, staff, and volunteers who come.  God is SO good!  I hope you can come to a rally this year, and experience God in a way that moves your soul.  We learned from Michael that work, people and situations do not control our lives -- God does.

God bless,
Jeff
